Bank CEO lauds religious tolerance

THE Managing Director of Bank of Africa Tanzania (BoA), Mr Ammish Owusu-Amoah, has described the religious tolerance in Tanzania as a key factor for peace and national unity.

'Tanzania is stable and citizens are not divided by religious denominations as is the case in many African countries and elsewhere in the world,' Mr Owusu-Amoah said in Dar es Salaam late Wednesday.

He said that religious tolerance was fundamental in achieving social and economic development.

Mr Owusu-Amoah made the remarks at an Iftar organised by the bank for its customers to celebrate what he described as incredible diversity of the Tanzanian nation.

According to the bank's boss, peace and unity prevailing in the country, coupled with conducive business environment saw the bank growing stedily and was now proud of having 19 branches.

'Before end of the year we will open two branches to have in place 21 branches,' he said, noting that the Bank of Africa Tanzania spends part of its profits to support the local communities.

The bank's balance sheet size grew by 425bn/- in 2013 and the progress was translated into a result of good strategic partners and customers the bank was currently having.
