IPP Executive Chairman Dr Reginald Mengi has praised First National Bank (FNB) for what he described as their consistent, personalised services and dedicated staff.

Addressing attendants at the launch of First National Bank (FNB)-Premier Banking Suite mid this week in Dar es Salaam, Dr Mengi who is also Chairman of the Tanzania Private Sector Foundation (TPSF) said close relationship between banks and their clients builds customer trust and convenience in bank transactions.

“You started your operations in 2011 and you have consistently grown…this growth within such a short time is remarkably and admirable,” Dr Mengi remarked.

“Customers are not interested in the number of years of operation, rather they are interested in the security of their money in the bank. FNB innovations and effective security measures applied in online banking builds customers’ trust,” he said.

Earlier, speaking to reporters, FNB Chief Executive Officer Dave Aitken said the launched Premier Banking Suite is designed to offer unique, quick and exclusive banking services to premier customers.

“This service has been introduced to acknowledge customers with personal requirements ,” he said.

“We are excited to open our Premier Banking Suite at the Peninsula branch that will provide tailored banking and investment solutions to our customers. We believe customers are not similar and our centre will seek to provide customised solutions as embodied in our philosophy ‘how can we help you?’” he added.

Aitken noted that as a result of steady economic growth in Tanzania over the last few years, the banking needs and solutions have become complex and need specialised solutions that are innovative, flexible and personalised to meet the unique needs of the customer.

He said the bank’s capital base in the country at the time is USD33m with five branches and it is planning to set up four branches in Arusha, Mwanza, Sinza and Mbagala soon.

He also said 15 new automated teller machines will be set up by June next year. The fast growing bank has 50 corporate customers, thousands of commercial customers and aims to have 500,000 retail customers in the near future.

In Africa, FNB has been operating in sub-Saharan countries since 1874 and has subsidiaries in Zambia, Mozambique, Lesotho, Swaziland, Botswana and Namibia, with its Head Office in South Africa. FNB has a vision of becoming Africa’s preferred financial services provider of choice.
