Oil firm launches customer loyalty drive

GULF Africa Petroleum Corporation (GAPCO), a fuel marketing company launched a customer loyalty programme, enabling vehicle owners to earn points as they buy fuel in exchange of various prizes, including free petroleum products using special cards.

Ilala Municipal Council Mayor, Mr Jerry Slaa, who was the chief guest at the launching ceremony of the GAPCO Safari Loyalty Programme in Dar es Salaam, said the move would ease fuel challenges faced by vehicle owners.

Mr Slaa urged other fuel marketing firms to adopt the system and promote advancement of cashless society in the country. He said the service was expected to help reduce overall costs of fuel, cut paperwork and help businesses run more efficiently.

Mr Slaa reaffirmed the government’s commitment to support any efforts that facilitate improvement in the transportation sector and commended GAPCO for the initiative.

Dr Macharia Irungu, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for GAPCO Group said the firm has extensive interest in the East African market and boasts of 63 fueling stations in Tanzania, making it one of the country’s leading fuel marketing company.

Mr Ashok Dhar, President of Reliance Industries Limited India, parent company of GAPCO Tanzania Ltd, said that the programme represented a small part of the GAPCO Advantage, an initiative that would transform the GAPCO Experience overall.

Mr Dhar expressed Reliance’s confidence in Tanzania’s economy and commitment to increasing its investment in the country.

Detailing on the GAPCO Safari Programme, Mr Vijay Nair, Chief Operating Officer (COO) said that the Gapco Safari card will be available at any GAPCO petro station in Dar es Salaam to start with. GAPCO Tanzania Limited is a subsidiary company of GAPCO Mauritius.

GAPCO is one of the largest independent petroleum marketing organisations in East Africa, involved in imports of petroleum products, retail and wholesale trade, storage, distribution, supply and transportation in the region and beyond.
