Mzumbe varsity set to offer more post-graduate business programmes

THE Mzumbe University plans to expand provision of different business and management postgraduate programmes at its Dar es Salaam campus to cope with the ever growing need for the courses.

“We now offer 11 masters programmes compared to two, which were available at the inauguration of the campus in 2005. Two of the programmes are run in conjunction with the United Kingdom’s based Bradford University.

Acting Deputy Vice- Chancellor, Mzumbe University, Prof. Josephat Itika, said during the 13rd Graduation ceremony over the weekend that the expansion means a lot to Dar es Salaam residents in need of academic progress.

“This is an opportunity for workers living in Dar es Salaam to pursue further studies,” he said. Explaining further, he said, next year Mzumbe will start collaboration with CMR Bangalore India.

“Our aim is to continue offering best education and enable our graduates improve in their professional performance,” Prof. Itika said during the event.

A total of 515 men and 471 women were conferred with various degrees by the Varsity’s Chancellor, Judge (Rtrd), Barnabas Samatta.

The Chairperson of the varsity’s Council, Prof. Daniel Mkude, said Mzumbe has bigger plans to expand education opportunities to Tanzanians including adding the number of courses and students.

He urged students to make use of the newly acquired knowledge for their development and the country at large.

“It is my hope that you will continue to be good ambassadors out there,” he told graduates, while congratulating the campus’ staff for doing a good job.

He explained that Mzumbe was committed to continue supporting government’s mission of expanding higher education under existing programmes.
